Wentworth and Prison Break a big hit in China
Prison Break isn’t just popular here in North America, in China, it’s become the most downloaded American TV show, dethroning the old champion “Desperate Housewives”.
Why is Prison Break so popular in China? Many believe it’s fans swooning over Wentworth Miller himself!
The most surprising aspect of it’s run away success in China is the manner it which it’s popularity grew. Without official support or any advertising / promotion. Highly unusual for a country so saturated in advertising and PR.

Brothers claim Fox stole Prison Break from thaem
The Hughes brothers from Mo. are claiming that the hit show Prison Break was rip off from their published story, and they have launched a federal law suit to get “their fair share”. The brothers claim they have found over 30 similarities to their story from season one and fifteen more so far in season two.
They say that apart the similarities don’t seem like a big deal, but when viewed as a whole show an obvious rip off job.
Are the brothers telling the truth? Hard to say, they are self-admitted con artists…but they insist that this time they are telling the truth. I guess only time will tell. I’m going to keep watching Prison Break :)

5 things you may not know about Prison Break
1. It’s filmed in the formed cell of John Wayne Gacy
From the very beginning, the show’s producers were intent on providing as realistic of a atmosphere for the show as possible. Little did we know how real it would get. The show’s prison is Joliet Correctional Center located in Illinois, a real federal penitentiary that closed down in 2002.
Even more macabre, they decided to make Lincoln’s cell to be the same cell that housed Joliet’s most notorious serial killer, John Wayne Gacy. Some of the cast members are a little queasy over this, and some staff members refuse to enter the cell, but Dominic has no qualms at all, he says the cell has the best light.
2. The stars were cast at the last minute
Once the go-ahead for the first season was finally received from Fox in 2005, series creator Paul Scheuring had to get everything in place for the show. He was so focused on directors, crew members and supporting cast that he almost forgot to cast the the stars. The show’s two star characters Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows were not cast until less than a week before filming began.
Wentworth Miller was cast as Michael just 6 days before the first shoot and Dominic Purcell was cast with a mere 72 hours remaining before the first day of filming. Scheuring said he was having trouble finding the perfect duo that fit the gritty roles and so he was forced to sweat it out until the perfect pair showed up at the last minute.
3. Prison Break was very nearly a Miniseries packed with star power.
We all know that Prison Break can only go on for so long before things get a little tired and rehashed. The series premise even begs the question , would it not be more suited as a miniseries? The show’s creator himself admits he only planned out two seasons and has no idea what direction the show will take in season 3. Given this information, it’s not surprising that the show was originally planned as a 10 part mini-series.
The mini-series had names attached to it like Steven Speilberg (who dropped out at the last minute to direct War of the Worlds staring Tom Cruise). Fox executives were finally convinced that it could be successful as a series by the run-away sci-fi drama Lost.
4. Prison break is one of the most tech savvy shows around.
With it’s run away ratings success, Prison Break was a hit with advertisers. Toyota even purchased exclusive rights to an Internet / mobile phone video spin off series which has had several releases. Prison Break also broke ground when it was one of the first fox shows to be released for viewing on MySpace.com the popular social website. Something the other networks had not tried.
5. Wentworth Miller is Mariah Carey’s video hunk of choice.
While the runaway success of Prison Break has catapulted both Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller into the hearts of Women everywhere, you may be shocked to find out that Wentworth has another career on MTV.
So far he’s starred as the love interest in two of Mariah’s videos “It’s like that” and “We Belong Together”. Both songs became quite popular in 2005, with “We Belong Together” becoming one of the biggest pop singles of 2005.
